Just trying to organize this so that people can find the information they are looking for easier. So, let place and questions and comments about medicines here. :)
I'm curious about medications used to treat Chiari. Has anyone had their Chiari successfully treated with medications or is surgery the only option when symptoms are present and getting progressively worse each day?
I have to comment on this one. I have tried soooo many different medications and they keep getting stronger and stronger. I would think surgery would be a better option rather than taking a chance getting addicted or ruining your liver. I am now on Opana which is suppose to be twice as strong as oxycotin. So far, it has worked on most days but I have only taken them for 4 days. I was on morphine before that and before that I was on a mix of vicodin and percocet. I am hoping to find out if surgery is going to be my best option. I am scheduled to go to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opionion. Good Luck! Of course, I am mainly talking about the pain associated with Chiari, I know there are other symptoms and medications for those. ~Carrie
I've tried so many meds to help my symptoms and nothing works. The anti-depressants just make me really aggitated to the point I cannot take them even at a very low does. I take one pain pill twice a day and I have a muscle spasm med I take when I don't mind being a zombie. Other than that I live in constant pain with many symptoms. The pain med I am on takes away just enough of the pain that I can function for a few hours but that's the best I can hope for as things stand right now.
