Hi Friends-
Its been quite some time so I thought I'd start with a question to you all:
How do you feel about the HOUSE episode that aired Monday and featured Chiari Malformation?
Do you think it portrayed it accurate at all?
Do you think the actors character made a joke of the condition?

Devin, glad to see you back. We all have missed your optimism, positivity and smile! Also your creative outlook on our horrible disorder. I was dissapointed by this show, very!
Love ya- Ang
Very disappointed in the show. The acting was bad and the whole story line was one that I would have switched off if it wasn't about chiari. True stuff: the symptoms were ones that we all had although the way the were protrayed coming on quickly instead of gradually over years, many misdiagnosis and useless tests (although done over a few days versus years), and being told we are faking it, but the final diagnosis was not based on anything that could happen - feeling the neck and pulling up on it (ouch!) instead of a MRI. And after having decompression you would be lying down saying give me drugs not sitting up comfortably saying lets get married in three weeks
I didn't mind the show, but thats because its my kind of humor. Its what makes me laugh and get through my days. But thats different for everyone, just like our symptoms are each different. If it weren't for the heckling we do to eachother, like on House, I don't know that I could make it through my days at work. But were only able to do it because we are like family there. Nope, it wasn't very realistically portrayed though, Kathy was right about that. But still, I'm glad, because no matter how badly portrayed, it was shown to probably millions who are now aware for the first time that it exists. I don't expect tv or movies to be realistic anyway, just entertaining, and it worked ok for me in that regard.
Keep finding reasons to laugh friends, little or big or stupid, doesn't matter. Just smile and laugh to help ya through those times when ya can't.
